How to handle deep set, yet prominent eyes?

718 ratings | 40441 views
It might sound somewhat contradictory, but deep set eyes can be prominent too. This combination will look great with almost any makeup you apply, so we decided to show you a technique that can be used on any eye shape, including prominent, yet deep set eyes; on these it will be just that little bit more attention grabbing. 👀🍭 More information: https://advisemystyle.com/blog/2018/02/08/how-to-handle-deep-set-yet-prominent-eyes Other articles and content: https://advisemystyle.com

I’m East Asian and I envy women with deep set prominent lid creases no matter if they’re south Asians, Hispanics or whites.

finally makeup tutorials with my eye type! i've had to learn how to do makeup on my own since i've been allowed to wear it and it's been a struggle to learn how to make my eyes bright and happy since i have deep set, yet puffy eyes. i've been really insecure about my eyes for years and years, but is so pretty and i'm glad to see makeup artists working with this eye shape.

I have large protruding lids (now hooded due to age) but I also have a large space between my lids and brows...I hate my eyes as they show too much colour (ok when I was younger, I was nicknamed Twiggy because I had the same eyes) I really don't know how to wear eyeshadow properly, they either look too light on the lid or too heavy and sleepy....help! xx
Maria (4 months ago)
Please do more videos like this. I have same eye shape but i have even more eyelid space. Its just so difficult to apply eyeshadows. This video was very helpful.

My eyes are totally different...they are extremely sunken specially my eyelids and also I've got dark circles . A tutorial for this kind plzz

I actually stopped wearing makeup about 6 years ago and will occasionally try to use it for events and my graduation but it always has turned out horrible because of my eyes. Even when I tried a natural look they would make me look like I was on the way to a night club or something and I always just end up removing everything immediately after I spent so long putting it on. I never knew that I could just put the color by my lash line and it would be fine and not be so heavy looking. Could you please make a video on how to do different types of eyeliner for this eye shape? I can never get a wing right because of my crease being so low on the sides. I also just want a look that’s quick and simple with eyeliner to moreso define my lash line and make it look thicker without making my eyes look rounder. And is there a way to use makeup to give an illusion and completely change your eye shape? I always have thought women who have almond shaped elongated thinner/squintier eyes had a more sultry or pretty appearance where as my large round deep set prominent eyes tend to look exhausted and on a good day “childish and cute” because I have that “deer in the headlights wide-eye look” all the time. I’m turning 20 march 18th and everyone comments on the fact that I look like I’m about to turn 14. I would really appreciate it if you could ask this model if she’d film more videos we have extremely similar faces, the only differences are our noses and lips. Thank you for the tip about the thick brow hair, ever since the brow trend came I’ve been lost because I have such long thick brows that cake up if I use a pencil or pomade, so I let them grow out again and the tails droop way too low naturally.

Heeeeyyyy!!! Thank you for the lovely comment. 🤗 I already got a couple requests like your’s so I’ll definitely do it, but post it on our website because we’ll soon launch a makeup tutorial recommender system. Check it out in about a month. 😉

I have fat hooded eyes, so you can't see anything on my lid. I love makeup, but I don't have the eyelids for it so I just watch makeup vids.

This is amazing amazing amazing! Thank you so much for posting this. I had such a hard time learning how to apply eyeshadow to my eyeshape. And your tutorial has been so helpful for me. I already see such a major difference in the overall look. My husband's even started to notice!

Oh my gosh, FINALLY a model for makeup with my exact facial feature structure! Every time I have gotten my makeup done professionally, it has been a nightmare! The makeup artists make my deep and close set eyes look horrible! My whole life I have envied girls with almond shaped eyes where you can't see their ENTIRE eye lid when their eyes are open. Please do more videos with Lola!

i absolutely hate my deepset eyes. i cant do all the beautiful trendy instagram eyeshadows because when i open my eyes it disappears and i have a huge caveman brow bone. i'm cursed

The one tutorial on the whole tube, specific to bulging huge eyelids like mine! Great one! Need more 😬 please and thank you! Thankfully the shape isn’t difficult to handle for me, just have one question: How can one cut a crease if the crease is already so high? I’m never able to do that :(

I love this. I think this may finally be my true eye shape. I have no clue how to do makeup, but usually, I don't have to. I get crazy compliments on my deer in headlights eyes, but I really wish I had learned when I was in my teens and 20s. I can't eyeliner to save my life, I feel like one lid is JUST a smidge lower than the other, so sometimes one lined eye looks like it's lined much thicker than the other. Of course, it isn't...buy then I start trying to correct it and it all just goes to hell. I tried doing the tape trick, the straight card trick, tried 'roller' liquid liner...and my winged liner always looks forced and odd. Too sharply angled and 'hard', never the glamorous smokey devil eyes im going for. Dark eyeliner always looks so unnatural on me. Red, glitter, gold, metallic blue..they all look very nice, but far liner vexes me. The liner on my bottom and inner bottom lash if and when applied, always looks like a word typed in super bold print, and also looks forced. Sometimes I think my eye just isn't made for dramatic dark eyeliner if any at all. Big fake lash or a dramatic lash extension always seem to give me that more 'seemingly innocent, but is 100% be a witch' look im kinda going for...but I wonder if this is normal to hear for this eye shape? Does dark, winged eyeliner make large, already dramatic eyes look TOO dramatic? Thank you for this video. 💜

I have really big eyes with a seriously big lids and I don't like how eyeshadow look on them they are so big that you don't know how and where to apply makeup because everything is visible, I think people with small eyes look prettier and better than the big ones
Serendipity Kim (2 months ago)
truee, i also have big prominent eyes and i really felt insecure because of this. My sister always making fun of how i look because of my eyes 😢

ChaoticDoll (11 months ago)
I rarely ever like how eyeshadow looks on my eyes because my eyelids are so big that I don't understand where eyeshadow is meant to be placed on my eyes, especially that whenever I try to do eye makeup it looks OTT and drag queenish very quickly because of how there is so much visible lid space, meaning eye makeup is much more visible and bright and in-your-face on larger lids. Eye makeup looks far more prettier and natural on smaller lids.
gladitsnotme (3 months ago)
Just find the shades that work for you, and rely on eyeliner for color. I recommend the Colourpop Give It To Me Straight eyeshadow palette, great colors that you can't look drag queenish in. I also use green and navy blue eyeliner often, even by itself with no shadow. It brings color without looking clownish. And always use a dark shadow in the outer corner, always. No matter what look I do, I always use a super dark or black in the outer corner to give my eye more shape.
Maria (8 months ago)
Mines are way bigger. I have no idea how to apply eyeshadow or even a liner which suits my eyes.
Gina Van Ulzen (10 months ago)
so relieving to not be the only one, my eyes got dragged down and it looks waaaay too much so i usually just do hardly any colour now.
Ariel Gutierrez (10 months ago)
Yes same!!!! My eyes are exactly like this but I have a round head haha and I always tried to do my eyeshadow and copy people on yt or ig but it never works out bc of my eye shape!!! I love seeing how I'm not the only one who struggled with this!!!
AdviseMyStyle (1 year ago)
I love big eyes! Eyes are a mirror of the soul and if they're big, people can see your heart more easily. ;)
SingingMyBlue (1 year ago)
Your channel is amazing! You're the only real artist who makes joyful yet helpful videos about prominent eyes! Could you please do a tutorial on prominent wide-set eyes? I see what you did there with the prominent eyes, but could there be a way to make them wide-set ones look closer? Maybe coutrouring the nose bone? I really suck at wearing make-up and have always hated it because nothing ever worked on my eyes, but your channel and your artwork is giving me hope. Please keep going! ❤
AdviseMyStyle (1 year ago)
Ciiiaaaaooo bella! I just did a video for wide set prominent eyes explaining you the theory. Stay tuned... Though I don't contour noses, because that stuff messes with your head plus ut only looks good on the camera. :)

could you do a tutorial for hooded eyes. eg. when women start to over 30 and 40 please? thanks :) xxx
AdviseMyStyle (1 year ago)
I would love to, but I just can't find the models. Women in their 40's don't want to be in my tutorials. :( So... I am working on getting professional grown up models through an agency. Wish I would be in London now, because there are many who would love to show their faces.

I believe I have deep set prominent eyes but I can never wear color shadows on my lid, like in this video.... it looks too heavy & dark on me, and makes my eyes look closed/tired. I have to wear the colors on my brow bone, to push it back so the eyes come out more. I do, however, have to wear alot of eyeliner (cannot go without it), thicker than most girls, to make the eyes open up more/stand out, and I either don't put any color on my lids or add a very light color on them. I wish I didn't have to wear so much liner, but that's how I add color to my lids, like using blue or green liners. The colors you added on this model are beautiful!
paxsmile (10 months ago)
myheartwaves you’ve described my battles exactly! Ps I think you’ve handled your makeup fantastic!

You could be right..... I may just need to learn a few little tricks to do it differently, to work for me.
AdviseMyStyle (1 year ago)
To be honest, reading your comment, I believe most of what you wrote is only in your head. I bet there are numerous ways to use colour on your eyes without a thick eyeliner. ;)

I really like the looks you do! Many beauty youtubers make these very heavy and non-practical looks which don't even look too good in real life. This look is so fresh and something I would actually wear day to day! 👏🙏
AdviseMyStyle (1 year ago)
Yeeeeessssss!!! Even I knowing a lot about production and stuff can't believe how they manage to get it looking that good on the photo. Girls work their angles and filters whereas in real life, they freak me out. :)

Can you also do a skin prep tutorial? Perhaps showing us how you prepare the skin before foundation and telling us some of your favourite skincare products. Do you ever use a face oil?
AdviseMyStyle (1 year ago)
Not for makeup, because most of the foundations now are silicone based therefore oils melt the makeup. I already wrote down your question and will make a video. ;)

I think I have this eye shape as well!!! Contradictory just like myself!!! haha!!! Lots of kisses Jure!!!
